Our Security partner Status Security Group was established in early 1982 and was founded in Johannesburg over 42 years ago by the current owner and director Mr Alan Levitas . Mining operations exist in rural, often remote locations. These massive capex operations are highly sensitive to production disturbances, which can create risk to investors and local communities. Large remote sites require world-class, integrated workplace management solutions. We provide a comprehensive range of services, from security officers, riot control, VIP protection, and CCTV monitoring to predictive analytics, advanced security technology, including facial recognition and remote monitoring via our National Control and Command Centre, as well as fire solutions and event security.

Our Presence

Our presence in the Mining sector is prevalent in Gauteng, Northwest, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KwaZulu Natal and Northern Cape provinces. Our security officers are fully trained to protect all the major commodity operations, including gold, platinum, coal, chrome, manganese and copper.

As a company, we have grown organically, we are proudly South African with a Level 1 BBBEE and we hold “upliftment in our communities” in high regard. Based on the extent of crime in our country and the risks faced by our clients on a daily basis, we collaborate with various role players, such as SAPS.

In addition to the basic legislated security training received, the mining security officers undergo specialist, supervisory and control room training. Thereafter, on deployment, the security officer will receive mine-specific induction training based on the mine security and safety policies.

The Status Security Group mining operations team works closely with our other support services like Intelligence/Investigations and data analysts, Special Operations / Crowd Control unit, and the Airwing (helicopters and drones) division to ensure a fully integrated and tailored security solution is provided. Our operations are further reinforced by our proven and professional collaboration with law enforcement agencies such as the SAPS, NPA, and DPCI.
